The thing I don't like about the PS2 version is the apparent lack of colour - nevermind the polys, it looks pretty bland in the colour spectrum. But if you are planning on getting a Gamecube, do yourself a favour and wait till the holiday season - it's getting even cheaper (and so is RE4)! There are plenty of good gaming to be had. It's a testament to Capcom's developers that they even got remotely close to the Gamecube, considering how less powerful the PS2 is. Killroy, if you don't have a cube and don't plan on getting one, do still get the game for PS2 - it's a great game, despite the lack of effects (especially in the fire level). Most widescreen TV content needs the same. The gamecube supported 480p just fine, but it was forced letterbox - a mistake admitted by Capcom, but not a huge deal. in which the Gamecube screens are displayed, and you can mouse-over the pic to show the PS2 comparison.

The most interesting comparison, however, is this one here.

The forced progressive scan letterbox thing isn't a huge deal for me, anyway. Unless a few hour extras mission and a new gun tickle your fancy. Not to flame the PS2, cause I own one and enjoy one constantly, but if you've got a cube or are planning to buy one, get that version, IMO. However, if you don't, by all means, don't miss this game on the PS2 - it's quite good. If you own a GC, the GC version is still the one to get. In fact, the cutscenes from the PS2's version are MPEG caps from the Gamecube version played through SoftDec. There are many effects/polys/colours missing, as well the loading times have increased quite a bit. And the graphical differences are pretty large. But I'd beg to differ that the GC version is still superior in terms of atmosphere. for the extra 3 hour mission (yeah I'm crazy lol). I may still buy the game for my PS2, despite the fact that I own the GC version.
